Magic is real. But so are monsters.  Oisin dreams of being a hero, like the ones he reads about in books. So when he overhears a plot for a midnight raid on a Dublin museum, he knows this is his chance.

But Oisin soon realises that heroes must fight monsters. Dark things that lurk in the shadows – like the sinister Fomorians – don’t take kindly to those who get in their way.

With the help of legendary troublemaker Fionn MacCool, can Oisin prevent death and destruction? Or will modern Dublin find itself at the mercy of the mythical monsters it had forgotten? 

My debut novel Heroes of Light and Shadow is inspired by my love of stories of secret worlds hidden in plain sight. 

I wanted to create a tale in which magic and mystery lurk around every corner, and curious kids find themselves on an extraordinary adventure and discover their courage. 

Inspiration struck late one night when I was trawling through Wikipedia and stumbled across an entry for the Tuatha Dé Danann. A thought struck me – what if these people really existed and were still around today, living in the shadows? 

The rest is history (or mythology)! 

I hope to spark in readers (of all ages) a sense of curiosity, wonder and imagination, and to inspire an interest in Ireland’s weird and wonderful folklore.
